Spiritual – Nutrition – Exercise

If we assume that they are equally weighted, working on one alone we will have a 33% chance of success. Add a second, and you are up to a 66% success rate. Work on all three areas simultaneously and you. are up to 99%!

Today we will cover numerous suggestions in each area. Pick the ones you think or know will help you the most.

Spiritual Growth

Be earnestandunweariedandsteadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alertandintent in [your praying] with thanksgiving. – Colossians 4:2 AMPC

Start journaling, write down three things are grateful for and three things you would like to improve on.

Ask yourself, do you have a goal, vision and purpose? All three are essential to persevere.

Focus on what you have, and not what you do not have. There were thousands of trees in the garden of Eden. The devil entrapped Adam and Eve by getting them to focus on the one tree they could not have.

Define your goal i.e by when (thought).

Divide your goal into daily tasks that will progress you towards it (plan).

Do them daily to be consistent (action).

Embrace the process.

What is it that you don’t want? What one thing, if done consistently will ensure it does not occur?

Know who you are in Christ. Believe what God says about you!

Nutrition

Fuelling the machine. Optimize your nutrition. As a rule, we are all overfed (SAD).

There are three ways to control your nutrition:

  1. What you eat.
  2. When you eat.
  3. How much you eat.

Find the lever that works for you – always pull on at least one, sometimes two, and occasionally all three.

Understand the role of insulin, it is there to store your food as energy.

Every time you eat or drink something that requires digestion you produce insulin.

Fasting (when) you eat controls insulin production.

Insulin stores energy in your 1) liver 2) muscles and 3) fat.

Energy stored in your liver takes +-2hrs of strenuous exercise. 1 and 2 are readily available. If 1 and 2 are full, energy is stored as fat. Burning fat as an energy source is a lot of effort.

First, deplete 1 and 2, then exercise at a steady-state HR for a prolonged period of time.

Fasting aids in depleting 1 and 2. Performing cardio while fasted can burn fat. It requires effort and serious hard work to train away fat. It is way easier to sort out your excess fat by controlling your diet!

Exercise

Exercise is the magic pill, it is pure medicine to the body. It upregulates your emotions.

The exercise hierarchy is as follows: focus on 1) health 2) mobility 3) strength 4) performance 5) physique.

Your training should be focused on aiding you to achieve your goals. It should be part of your daily life.

Your body aids/ facilitates you in celebrating and enjoying life on earth now. It should not be a prison for your soul.

Set small, realistic and easily achievable goals to ensure your efforts are sustainable.

Muscle mass increase is vital for health – eat sufficient amounts of protein and perform strength training.

You lose fat by controlling your nutrition. You exercise to improve your cardiovascular fitness and strength.

Build muscle, muscle weighs 4x more than fat.

Fix your body composition. Do not be fixated by the weight on the scale.

In conclusion 

Christ came, died and rose again so you can live a victorious, overcoming life on earth now.

If you are reading this, you are alive and regardless of your age, you are in control of effecting change.

Ensure that your thoughts, plans, and actions are all aligned to ensure the desired outcome.

Have a growth mindset, faith, hope, love yourself and others.

Align your purpose, dreams and desires with a plan which you can put into action.

To achieve your goal and purpose you need a healthy, strong body. This is well within your reach.

Fuel it correctly through exercise, fitness and strength.
